FAQ
What is a D20?
A D20 is a 20-sided die numbered 1–20. It is the signature die in D&D, used for attack rolls, skill checks, and saving throws.
Can I roll multiple dice at once?
Yes! Roll 1 to 10 dice simultaneously and see each result plus the total.
Where can I see my roll history?
The Roll History section shows your last 10 rolls with timestamps.
Probability Theory and the Mathematics of Dice
Probability theory, expected value, random number generation, and TRPG/board game applications fully explained.
Dice Probability Theory Basics
Rolling a 6-sided die (D6) gives each face (1-6) an equal 1/6 ≈ 16.7% probability — a uniform distribution. Rolling 2 D6 makes 7 the most likely result (6 out of 36 = 16.7%), approaching a bell curve. As more dice are added, middle values become more likely — this is the Central Limit Theorem.
Expected Value of Dice
- D4: Expected value 2.5, range 1-4
- D6: Expected value 3.5, range 1-6
- D8: Expected value 4.5, range 1-8
- D10: Expected value 5.5, range 1-10
- D12: Expected value 6.5, range 1-12
- D20: Expected value 10.5, range 1-20
